Their role

On the German side, they are responsible for application processing; the correspondantes and correspondants régionaux exercise an educational, advisory and evaluative function. Their area of responsibility also includes the programmes of the Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO).

State representatives receive all applications directly from sponsor organisations not affiliated with a central association office in Germany. They each work in the ministerial or senate administrations for which youth work or youth welfare is part of the remit. Jurisdiction varies from one German state to the next. The correspondants and correspondants régionaux work in the Regional Directorate for Youth, Sports and Social Cohesion (DRJSCS) of the French regions.

State representative offices are important partners in the qualification of mobility programmes

State representative offices perform far more for the FGYO than simply process applications. They are an important building block for evaluating and further developing existing exchange projects.

As part of the FGYO evaluation strategy, state representatives and correspondantes and correspondants régionaux visit FGYO-sponsored youth encounters in their states and regions. They provide project sponsors with educational and substantive inspiration for their programmes. They also represent the FGYO at the regional level.

The FGYO is in constant exchange and dialogue with both networks and holds annual information and networking meetings with representatives from both countries.
